Position Details

• Job Title: Officer – Upstream Production
• Department: Biotech Manufacturing
• Location: Lupin Biotech Facility, Pune, Maharashtra
• Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Experience Level: Entry to Mid-level (0-3 years)
• Education Requirements:
  • M.Sc. in Biotechnology (preferred)
  • M.Sc. in Microbiology (considered)
  • B.Tech in Biotechnology (with relevant experience)

Key Responsibilities

1. Upstream Process Operations:
   • Execute microbial fermentation processes using 100L fermenters
   • Operate and maintain centrifugation systems for biomass separation
   • Conduct cell disruption using high-pressure homogenizers
   • Monitor and control critical process parameters (pH, DO, temperature)
2. Equipment Management:
   • Perform CIP/SIP operations for fermentation equipment
   • Operate autoclaves for media and equipment sterilization
   • Maintain cold chain management using cold rooms
   • Conduct integrity testing of filtration systems
3. Documentation & Compliance:
   • Prepare and review Batch Production Records (BPRs)
   • Author and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
   • Document equipment logs and process data accurately
   • Maintain compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements
4. Quality Systems:
   • Initiate and investigate deviations
   • Participate in change control processes
   • Support root cause analysis for process deviations
   • Assist in technology transfer activities
5. Safety & Training:
   • Adhere to biosafety protocols
   • Participate in safety audits and inspections
   • Complete mandatory cGMP and safety trainings
   • Mentor junior team members

Technical Skills Required

• Hands-on experience with bioreactors/fermenters
• Knowledge of microbial growth kinetics
• Understanding of aseptic techniques
• Familiarity with process automation systems
• Basic troubleshooting of bioprocess equipment

Upstream Production Officer Salary

• Salary Range:
  • Freshers: ₹3.5 – ₹4.2 LPA
  • 1-3 years experience: ₹4.2 – ₹5.5 LPA
