What are the job responsibilities of a Medical Coder at Optum?
- Proficiency in retrieving data from medical records and utilizing the screening-related HCPCS and CPT codes.
- Comfortable working with the new standards and advanced regulatory updates from CMS, AMA, and AHA regulations.
- Review and edit the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) to update and revise ICD-10-CM and CPT codes and modifications.
- Check out the clinical documents, medical records, and utilize CPT codes for surgical procedures, vaccines, and Lab testing services.
- Maintain the patient’s health information confidentiality by ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Strictly follow the company’s rules and regulations.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with the departmental staff and hospital staff.
- Investigate and resolve edits under the specified time frame to maintain adherence with regulatory standards.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that all medical records are coded accurately.
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract.

- Understanding of Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy & Physiology.
- Expertise in HCPCS, CPT, and ICD coding systems.
- Certified with CPC / COC / CIC / CCA / CCS

What is the required qualification?
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a recognized institute in India.
- Candidates graduated in any of the Sciences and health-related disciplines.
- Candidates must have certificates in AAPC and AHIMA.
- CPC, CCS, CIC, and COC certificates are acceptable.
- Freshers and experienced candidates are both welcome to apply for the post.
