Job Responsibilities of a Medical Coder
- Monitor coding activities for diverse specialties such as IP DRG, Surgery, ED Facility, E/M services, and Denials.
- Identify the proper ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes and translate medical records appropriately.
- Maintain compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements (AHIMA, AAPC)
- Collaborate with the healthcare professional and the billing department to resolve coding-related queries.
- Review healthcare professional reports, notes, and medical data to ensure precise coding.
- Regularly perform self-inspection to analyze the code quality to reduce the chances of errors and improve coding standards.
- Ensure the confidentiality of the patient record.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and related privacy protocols.
Job Responsibilities for Senior Coder
- Accountable for suggesting and executing modifications to coding operations and documentation standards.
- Coordinate and consult with healthcare professionals (Physicians) and key stakeholders to discuss the coding complexities.
- Carry out the investigation to assess the coding and identify the potential areas for improvement.
- Create detailed reports to investigate coding accuracy, track error trends, and optimize complete functions.
Skills Required
- Data Analysis & Statistical Analysis
- Data Management SkillsÂ
- Expertise with HCPCS, CPT, and ICD coding systems.
- Foundational Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy & Physiology.
- Excellent Verbal and Oral Communication skills.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy of Life Sciences (B.Pharm / B.Sc)
- CPC, CCS, CIC, COC, and other related certificates are mandatory for the job role.
- Minimum 01 year of experience is required to apply for this job.
